Birkenau
Right aftter Auschwitz, we headed over to Birkenau, a concentration camp a few miles away.
Birkenau has over 8,000 barracks, if that gives you any idea of the scale of this camp.
Treblinka
The next day, Mrs. Carroll and I traveled with the American Embassy to a special ceremony at Treblinka.
There's not really anything left there but a memorial tribute.
The ceremony was in Polish and Hebrew... but it was still special to attend, even if we couldn't understand one single word and we about froze our toes off.
