Raising a boy...

Lord, help me.
I'm raising a boy.

... who loves sweet potatoes.

... has a bit of a sassy attitude.

... who likes to make the "old man face."

... and is wondering why I'm taking pictures instead of feeding him more sweet potatoes.

You may no longer wonder why bath time is directly after dinner.

Babypalooza

H and I have been doing a little Babypalooza this week!

On Tuesday, we traveled down to Tuscaloosa to meet Miss Mary-Miller, who was born Monday night, to one of my best friends, Mrs. Baker.

I know two very smitten parents....

.... of a beautiful baby girl!

H was a bit fussy, so he wouldn't let any other babies near his Mama.
So we tried again the next day... and I couldn't wait to get my hands on her!

We ventured back to B'ham, where we took our new friend, Baby Will, some dinner to his Mama, Mrs. Shepherd.

Baby Will spent some time in the NICU when I visited his Mama before, but this time I got plenty of snuggles in!

H was a total sport about the whole thing, and crawled around Mrs. Shepherd's living room, baby-proofing for her as he got into everything.

10 Months Old

Dear Harrison,

You are 10 Months Old!  This past month, you have matured so much, it's crazy.

Other than Pork Chop, Love Bug, Monkey, and Buddha Baby... a new nickname is Jabber Jaws.  Because you are chatting us up nonstop.

You are in Sizes 9 Month and 9-12 Month clothing and Size 4 diapers.

You are eating three meals a day, with two snacks in between!  You have recently discovered Gerber Puffs, and you cannot get enough of them.  You are still on Mommy Milk, and take your feedings about 3-4 times a day.  We've also starting supplementing Cow's Milk, little by little... and you LOVE it.

Likes include clapping your hands, throwing your toys around to watch us pick them up, watching your Mickey Mouse & Little Einsteins, and bath time.  You're also very smitten with all things technology-related, like the TV remote and iPhones.

You're also starting to mimic us better and just recently picked up shaking your head... I'm assuming it's from me saying "No, Harrison" while shaking my head.

You are everywhere
You turn your head for one minute, and you're either gone or up to something.
Completely fearless.

You're also walking with the help of your Vtech Walker.
It's a little shaky, but adorable, all the same.

As mentioned previously, we're trying to "Ferberize" you this month.
This had led to some pretty late nights and tired days for me and you, kiddo.
Lucky for you, you've got one stubborn mommy.
Not so lucky for me, I think you've inherited my stubborn streak.

You are also obsessed with Cooper and Abby.
You want to touch them all the time, and (gasp) pull their fur.
So far, they're being pretty good sports with you.
I can already see an alliance forming between you and Cooper.
Anyday now you'll be throwing food on the floor for him, I just know it.

Love you Bug!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Roses are red,
Violets are blue.
We're a bit busy around these parts,
but wanted to say Happy Valentine's Day to you!

S'up readers,
We've had quite a full plate around here lately, hence my lack of posts.  But while Mr. Smith simultaneously juggles Pork Chop and fixes me a nice steak dinner, I thought I'd update you.

1.  We've sold our house.
2.  After two strike-outs, we've finally found a place to move.
3.  Harrison has a 4 tooth coming in.
4.  We're trying to "Ferberize" him at night.
5.  We're stocking up the Freezer on Mommy Milk for a trip coming up.
6.  I've got gal pals popping out babies left and right.

Girlfriend's been busy, peeps.
Perhaps a little stressed too.
You know it's bad when you start symphathizing with the women on that TV show, "Snapped."

The Ferber method with Harrison?
We're batting 0-13 here, guys.
We started February 1st.
I cannot confirm or deny that I may or may not have slept in the crib with him to get him to calm down.
Picture it, if you will.
Now that I can't walk upright or straight...

... it's time to pack up things here and move to a new house.
Sigh.

All in time for me to take a little trip with a favorite gal pal in a few weeks.
But more on that later.

When it rains, it pours.

(Any advice for getting my child to sleep through the night is MORE THAN WELCOME.)

29 (Gulp)

This weekend I turned 29.

The age everyone dreads because it's your last year before turning the grand old age of 30.

I remember when I was little, I always wanted to be "30-something."

Because, you know, once you're in your 30's you have everything figured out, just like the show "30 Something" portrayed.

My mom would be quick to tell you I've acted like a 30-year-old my whole life, that I probably get more middle-aged every year.  :)

Mr. Smith treated me to a night out for the occasion, and took me to a lovely birthday dinner at Cafe Dupont

It was so nice to actually look like "Mr. and Mrs. Smith" and not so much "Tired Mommy and Daddy" for a couple of hours, as T & MiMi watched H-Man for us.

We dined on some pretty delectable dishes, including Fried Green Tomatoes with Grilled Shrimp, a Cheese Sampler Platter, Pork Tenderloin, New York Strip, and Grouper.

With beignets and a Godiva chocolate martini for me for dessert.

YUM.
(Don't think the thought of "I should have worn my maternity pants" didn't cross my mind.)

Thank you Mr. Smith for a fabulous birthday dinner!

Yesterday was back to reality with some Hamburger Helper for dinner.
It's all about the give and take, people.
And the fact that I snagged it for 95 cents at Publix.

Showering Mrs. Shepherd!

This past Sunday, we showered Mrs. Shepherd with some baby love for Baby Will's soon-to-be-arrival.

Mrs. Shepherd is a dear friend, sorority sister, and fellow FBLA State Job Interviewer Competition survivor.  That's for you Smaddox!

Mrs. Shepherd and I have been through all of life's ups and downs together... usually right around the same time!

Harrison can't wait for all his future play dates with Baby Will.

Amidst all the cutie patootie things... a gift of reality from yours truly.
I like to keep it real, peeps.
That case of 92 diapers will last approximately 5 hours.
I kid, I kid.
